  • Size: Avoid giant ice creams or family packs.
  • Rule out whipped cream, nuts and extra syrup on your ice cream.
  • Look at the calories on the back of the packaging of your ice cream before your purchase.
  • If you want something refreshing, choose a sorbet which has far fewer calories than traditional ice creams.
  • Do not eat ice cream every day. Try to restrict the consumption of ice cream to 1-2 times a week.
  • Wait to digest your meal before you eat ice cream.

Ice creams high in calories:

  • Chocolate and vanilla flavored ice creams come first in terms of calories. A scoop of vanilla ice cream with 4-6 % fat contains 150 calories, and a scoop of chocolate ice cream with 7-13 % fat 240 calories.

Diet ice creams with 0 % fat:

This category has ice creams that are made with sugar substitutes such as aspartame, sorbitol or malt dextrose. If you decide to replace your ice cream such as diet ice creams, you must be aware that their consumption cannot be unlimited, because of the health consequences of their overuse, according to scientists.

Vegetarian ice creams:

Vegetarian ice creams can have the same calories more-or-less as traditional ice creams with milk because usually the nuts or syrups used are high in calories.

Instead of crushed biscuit you can add honey, whole grain cereals or fruits to your ice-yoghurt making it automatically a healthy and nutritious choice.

How to make your own ice-yoghurt:

What you need:

  • 1 kg strained yogurt 2%

  • 1 can of sweetened milk

  • Juice of 1-2 lemons (optional)


  1. Place the yogurt and sweetened milk in a bowl and mix together until creamy.

  2. Add lemon juice if you prefer a lemony taste.

  3. Place in the fridge to cool.

  4. You can put your ice-yoghurt in the freezer for 2 hours, making sure it is covered. Ensure it is mixed well before placing in the freezer to avoid the formation of crystals.
